Biomet Centres of Excellence

Biomet Centres of Excellence

The Centres of Excellence programme enables surgeons, interested in introducing a new product, technology or technique into their practice, an opportunity to gain first hand knowledge from an expert.

Each International Centre of Excellence featured in the Orthopaedic Skills Academy has been specifically chosen because of their experience in a particular field so that the visitor will gain a comprehensive understanding of the system being demonstrated. The programme allows for extensive discussions to take place with the Host Surgeon while observing surgery and other aspects of their practice and patient management.

A typical Surgeon Educational Visit to an International Centre of Excellence, may involve meeting the Host Surgeon to review the programme and a preliminary discussion of the planned cases. Normally at least two cases will be scheduled. Presentations and workshops may also be included. Biomet's International Centres of Excellence are supported by a network of National Learning Centres in each country. The National Learning Centres offer the opportunity to observe surgery involving a broad range of Biomet products and technologies. They also offer an excellent alternative when there are special language requirements or when travel time is restricted.

The Orthopaedic Skills Academy also offers extended Surgeon Educational visits. Over several days a group of participating surgeons view live surgeries and have discussions at a series of Centres of Excellence as part of a pre-set programme. These multi-centre visits take place both in the USA or within Europe and can cover a variety of topics.
